Author Helps Kids
Syndicated columnist and author, Lindsey Stokes, raised awareness and funds for
Childhaven in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday night.
"Childhaven is one of those great, hard-working, low profile organizations that help a lot of the kids in the Seattle area who happen to be innocent victims," Stokes, the author of Planet Idiot: A Survival Guide, told the crowd at Seattle's lovely Plateau Club. "It's hard enough just being a kid. But for those who've been abused or neglected, what chance do they stand? They need help."
Stokes donated a total of $2,000 in book proceeds that evening.
Childhaven runs three programs in the Seattle area: the Therapeutic Child Development program for kids referred by Child Protective Services; the Drug-Affected Infant program, the first in the State; and the Crisis Nursery, King County's first and only 24-hour prevention program.
